According to the travel risk expert A3M, Canada, Iceland, Switzerland, Norway and Finland are among the safest countries in the world. Violent crime against travellers is rare here and there are no outstanding risks from natural hazards or in the health sector. Jacdec Risk Index Civil aviation was particularly safe in 2023
Accordingly, the countries in A3M’s latest risk map are labelled dark green – indicating a „very low“ risk level. Overall, the service provider divides the world into five categories from a risk perspective. These range from „very low“ (dark green) to „very high“ (red) and take a variety of factors into account.
Increased danger in several countries
Compared to the beginning of 2023, the situation and classification has understandably worsened significantly in Israel and neighbouring Lebanon. A3M has also upgraded the Polish border region with Ukraine.
The Caribbean country of Haiti has also been categorised as more dangerous – according to A3M, this is due to increasing gang violence and the rise in violent crime.
Increase in the risk of terror attacks
However, there are also changes for Germany and other European countries. Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands are now coloured light green instead of dark green. According to A3M, this is due to the recent increase in the risk of attacks.
